The first time I tore a ligament in my knee I was a sophomore in high school playing lacrosse. I had knee surgery and went through 6 months of physical therapy. After that I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist. And if you had asked me back then, "why do you want to be a physical therapist" I would have said "I like helping people recover from their physical injuries." However not until 2 years into my career did I realize the actual answer... 

I experienced this with my first knee injury without even realizing it. That when you are unable to do the thing you love, it's more than just being physically injured; you lose a sense of your identity, your purpose and your self worth. I believe this is true for everyone, not just athletes that can no longer play their sport; but also the person that plays with their grandkids every weekend or the person that hike's with their dog every morning.

So yes, I love helping people recover from injuries and get past physical barriers through proper strength training and movement. But I am PASSIONATE about helping others (re)gain their identity, get back to their purpose, build confidence and self worth.

    Let's go back to those "wild wild west" days...
    I’ve been growing Instagram accounts through various methods since 2013, when very few brands had realized Instagram's potential. 

    So I've spent YEARS...

    How do I access my shoulder assessment and online training modules?
    Both are accessed through a platform called Teachable. You will create a profile and sign in within teachable and can go through your assessment and lessons on your own time.
    How will I access my 3-monthly exercise program?
    Your exercise program will be delivered through an app called TrainHeroic. TrainHeroic is free and can be downloaded on apple or android devices. You will receive an email invite into TrainHeroic within 24 hours of your course enrollment. 
    Do I need any equipment? 
    At a minimum you do need some bands and a massage ball. Dumbbells or weights can definitely be used in your program but are not necessary to have (all exercises can be done with bands or weights). Additional optional equipment that can be used in your program (but not necessary) include TRX straps or any kind of suspension trainer and a chin up bar. Check out my amazon list for suggested equipment. 

    How will I know if I am doing the movements/exercises correctly? 
    Your at home shoulder assessment comes with detailed video instructions for each shoulder movement. You will see the movement on repeat and be told exactly what to look for when you do the movement yourself. The assessment worksheet will help you keep track of your assessment results and tell you how to interpret them. And likewise, every exercise within your 3 month exercise plan comes with a demonstration video and coaching tips on correct form and technique.
    How can this course help me if you don't know what is wrong with my shoulder?
    The mission of this course is to help you determine what is wrong with your shoulder and teach you how to fix it. Let's replace the need to 100% rely on someone else to tell you what you need with a self-confidence to handle your pain in a way that is right for you. 
    The Rotator Cuff Roadmap will guide you through a shoulder assessment to help you identify which of the 3 pillars to ultimate shoulder health you should focus on. The online injury recovery training modules will then give you a full understanding of those 3 pillars, why your shoulder needs them, and how to get there. When you have this understanding it gives you the determination to stay consistent with your exercises during your 3 month exercise plan. 

    Don't I need hands on treatment for my shoulder to get better?
    Hands on treatments (massage, manual stretching, joint mobilizations, tool assisted massage) are great tools! If you have a new injury hands on work helps to get your pain under control. If you have a long term shoulder injury it can give you short term relief in discomfort. BUT no matter what hands on treatment you get it needs to be followed up with corrective exercises. Those exercises are what make your improvements permanent. Only receiving hands on treatment will likely make you feel good for a short while but only to have your symptoms comes back in the near future. This course is NOT meant to hide your symptoms for a short while but to help you make life long permanent changes to your shoulder pain. In short, you can seek out manual treatment to help control your symptoms, but it's the knowledge that you will gain and the consistency of your 3 month exercise plan that will give you the results you have been looking for!
    Can I use my health insurance?
    No. Although I am a licensed physical therapist, I am not your physical therapist. The purchase and completion of the Rotator Cuff Roadmap does not constitute as physical therapy and is not meant to replace any advice given to you by your medical doctor or physical therapist. Therefore, there are no medical diagnosis codes or procedure codes that can be sent to your health insurance for reimbursement. However, this course is meant to teach you what you need to know to feel confident to handle your shoulder injury on your own and guide you through basic exercises for stronger healthier shoulders.
